Is this some joke or hoax? No! You read right, Instagram now supports multiple accounts!
Instagram announced yesterday that it is officially launching the multi-account support. You know like that same feature that allows you handle multiple accounts on Twitter.
Yippee!
If you’ve been keeping up with the Tech world, you would recall that the feature was tested on both Android and iOS in recent months. But just yesterday, it became confirmed. Gone are the days of logging out and in incessantly to keep up with your accounts or the dependency on unreliable third party applications. Users can now maintain more than one account on the same device.
You can now alternate between your personal accounts and other (business, back-up, pet, etc.) accounts with absolute ease.
Don’t fret, it’s pretty much easy… And here’s how:
Step 1: Update you iOS or android device with the latest version of Instagram to support this feature
Step 2: Move over to the settings menu on your Instagram (that would be the three dots on the far right axis), click on it and scroll down to “Add Account”.

Step 3: Click on the “Add Account” to sign in to a different account or sign up for a new account as the case maybe.
Step 4: Once you’ve added new accounts using the settings menu, you can now tap your username at the top of your profile to move between the various accounts.
Possible Questions You May Have and Appropriate Answers
Question: How would I know which account I have signed in?
Answer: You have your profile photo placed strategically on the app to ensure you never lose track of whichever account is active per time.
Questions: What about my notifications, how do I differentiate them?
Answer: Instagram has thought about that, they have taken time to state explicitly which account has what. Just take your time to go through it really well and get familiarized
Question: How do I know which account to post my photos
Answer: As at the time of this post, the way out I see would be making the switch before posting but I’ll update you if and when I get a better information.
What do you think?
In my experience, logging in and out of Instagram isn’t fun. In fact I had to download a third party app at some point, but with the multi-account feature, I won’t be needing it anymore. Please leave a comment, let me know how useful this has been for you
